Sensitization on Fake News

Fake news, also known as junk news or pseudo-news, is a type of yellow journalism or propaganda that consists of deliberate disinformation or hoaxes spread via traditional news media (print and broadcast) or online social media (Source: Wikipedia).

To sensitize the general public on what fake news is, why it is created, and how it is spread, the Department of Information and Media has developed two radio programs in Dzongkha and English languages and have aired these radio programs in private radio stations in Thimphu, including Kuzoo FM, which has reach in all the 20 Dzongkhags.

The department also aired these programs through the Lhop Community radio station in Dorokha, Samtse; Edi Community Radio Station in Dechenpelri, Gelephu; and the KYD Community Radio Station in Khothakpa, Pemagatshel.
