𝕊𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕠𝕗 ℙ𝕙𝕠𝕥𝕠𝕘𝕣𝕒𝕡𝕙𝕤 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕆𝕡𝕖𝕟 ℙ𝕙𝕠𝕥𝕠 𝔼𝕩𝕙𝕚𝕓𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟
The Department of Information and Media (DoIM), Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) in line with its mandate to help promote contemporary and creative arts in the country, is organizing a Photo Exhibition in collaboration with the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan (RTAB).
𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕠𝕓𝕛𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕧𝕖𝕤 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕠𝕣𝕘𝕒𝕟𝕚𝕫𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕖𝕩𝕙𝕚𝕓𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕒𝕣𝕖:
1. To encourage local photographers to pursue their passion
2. To provide networking opportunities with other established artists, and
3. To promote appreciation of the art of photography in the country
4. To provide a platform for photographers to showcase their skills and creativity.
𝔼𝕟𝕥𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕤 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕖𝕩𝕙𝕚𝕓𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟
The submission of entries was open from 1st March until 22nd March. We received a total of 848 entries from 109 participants of which 93 were male and 16 female. The participants were Bhutanese nationals from across the country including Civil servants, Monks, college and school students, and Bhutanese nationals residing outside the country such as Australia, Myanmar, Nepal, and India. In addition, we also received an entry from a foreigner residing in Bhutan.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants who submitted their photographs for the Exhibition. We are overwhelmed with the number of participants from all across the country. We treasure your participation and encourage you to keep pursuing your love and passion for photography.
The exhibition of the selected photos will be held for a duration of five days towards the end of April 2021.
𝕊𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕠𝕗 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕡𝕙𝕠𝕥𝕠𝕤
A panel of five judges from the Department of Information & Media, Ministry of Information’s and Communications, Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan, and an external expert judged the photos. The selection of photos was based on a simple majority vote.
Of the 848 photos, the committee selected a total of 205 photographs were selected for the catalog, and only 140 exceptional will be displayed for the exhibition due to the capacity of the gallery.
