Coinciding with the 42nd Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the King, two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Information and Media, Royal Government of Bhutan, Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) and the Royal Textile Academy (RTA), wherein the two organizations intend to establish a partnership in creating a platform for creative artist/talent in Bhutan by conducting the first ever Bhutan Creative Arts Festival (BCAF) in Thimphu and the Acting for Film and Theater Program (AFTP).
The Bhutan Creative Arts festival (BCAF) is being organized to celebrate Bhutanese creative expression and to enhance art appreciation among locals. It expects to create artistic vibrancy in the country, inspire youth through creative learning and cultural opportunity. The long term goal is to promote the Creative Industry and ultimately, create jobs, generate income and diversify the economy. The festival will also help artists network with local and international markets.
The Acting for Film and Theater program is a dramatic arts education that integrates rigorous realistic scene study, physical based actor learning, stanislavski based script analysis, modern dance, choreography, voice & speech, singing and creating original work. The artist trained under the program is expected to develop an understanding of drama based on the innovative approaches to physical acting & performance. Such art education will stimulate creativity in problem solving, help to explore thoughts, emotions and dreams leading to becoming analytical and thinking critically. The participants will be trained as a theatrical troupe and expected to become professional actors ready to perform in movies, TV and OTT industry.
