The Honโ€™ble Minister, Lyonpo Karma Donnen Wangdi, Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) attended the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 (PP-22) held in Bucharest, Romania. His excellency represented Bhutan as the Head of Delegation along with Delegation from the Ministry. The Plenipotentiary Conference is the highest policy-making body of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) which is held every four years. It is the key event at which ITU Member States decide on the future role of the organization, thereby determining the organizationโ€™s ability to influence and affect the development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) worldwide.The Conference sets the Unionโ€™s general policies;
adopts four-year strategic and financial plans; and
elects the senior management team of the organization, the Member States of the Council, and the members of the Radio Regulations Board.
During the PP 22, his excellency delivered the policy statement on 28th September 2022 highlighting the key accomplishments, national vision and plans, commitments and initiatives, and shared expectations from ITU towards Bhutan.
