• The Bhutan Information Communications and Media Act was enacted by
  the National Assembly in 2006. With rapid development of ICT and Media
  over the years, certain provisions under the act require amendments and
  additional provision needs to be incorporated in order to effectively
  enforce the provisions based on emerging situation in the country.

  This amendment is therefore seen as a very important requirement in
  creating an enabling environment for progressive growth of the ICT and
  Media sector.
